The seminar is intended for students at an advanced or university level. Applicants will be divided into appropriate groups by their level and instruments, and 1-2 works chosen accordingly. Chamber music composed for wind instruments will be the main focus of the seminar, however with the possibility of adding strings and/or piano in appropriate cases.

Participants will rehearse for several hours every day and receive both a coaching and a masterclass. The course concludes with a concert in Harpa where each group will perform one or more movements of the pieces that have been studied.

Michael Kaulartz, German bassoonist and former principal of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, heads this unique chamber music seminar for winds. He will be assisted by experienced teachers among Icelandic wind players. The amount and makeup of teachers will be selected according to the amount and makeup of applications.

The administrative team reserves the right to reject applications if there are not enough applications to maintain the department, or when it is not possible to allocate a group to an applicant or an appropriate work of study.

This is a great opportunity to enhance your skills at playing chamber music, at the same time enjoying making music together with others and getting to know a variety of chamber works for winds, under the guidance of excellent musicians.
